SRR Newsletter
Sept 2006. ~ Dedicated to Erica and Rescue Volunteers
In the short time we've started SRR our lives have been inspired by so many others in the network. While we dedicate a minimum of 6 hours a day to routine care for the fosters and rescues, You have stepped in with verbal encouragement, donated items such as rabbit-safe litter, Oxbow Bunny Basics, carpet pads, soap, bleach or vinegar, and donation gifts which allow us to purchase what's needed. Thirteen of the rescued infants have been spayed and neutered to date. We can totally relate to full-time 'round-the-clock focus on giving jeopardized rabbits a 2nd Chance.
In the last month Erica C. from Michigan rescued two bunnies from becoming snake food at a country relative's property. The owners thought she was crazy for caring about 2 rabbits. What do you think?
I hope Erica will be able to get more to safety and safe haven~adoption venues. Convincing the reptile owners of their inhumane actions is crucial for the unaltered adults. Her rescued babes are awaiting spay/neuter surgeries and will be up for adoption via a Rescue Agency in our neighboring state.
Lake Jacobsen, Executive Director of *Great Lakes Rabbit Sanctuary* sent the photograph of brown baby Winx and black-furred sibling Tinley. "They've grown so much," Lake writes, "but still as cute!" Please consider contributing in any small way for the life-option GLRS provided to Erica's rescued twosome. Versed in feline care, Erica sent several sweet-as-can-be pics of the babies before the Rescue Transport took place. How lucky these two are. The snake had not consumed the tiny bunny that was placed in the cage when Erica dove in to rescue...
To every caring individual who changes or makes a rabbit's life ten times better, you are the happy factor in their leaps!-------
"We caught 4 females and 1 male that day and unfortunately over the next few weeks the 4 females all gave birth to a total of 25 babies." - Small Animal Rescue Society BC

The quote above is typical of abandoned rabbits. They come in with more than a caring human anticipates. ** Thank YOU Erica and everyone involved!
