Holiday Caring ~ December 2006.
Education is extremely important as 2007 rolls in. Shelters appear - or are - full. Rescue organizations can be maxed to Capacity. Will Easter 2007 and beyond bring another avalanche of impulse purchases?
A mentor in the Independent Rescue Network stressed how education will gradually save lives. Volunteers at Wisconsin shelters and ally communities across the land understand.
Please present a small gift of word-of-mouth publicity. A subtle visual. There is somebun deserving of adoption or rescue. Living on borrowed time. That picture on your desk, the rabbits silk-screened on your clothing, a jewelry pin, bumper magnet, handbag, tatoo on your arm ... may initiate a query or conversation.
Reciprocate with an opportunity to chat on living with a house bun.
In our September news we spoke of Erica C. from Michigan who got Tinley and Winx rescued and placed with Great Lakes Rabbit Sanctuary.
This month a New Zealand white wishes to thank Maureen and Angela. He probably looked a lot like Nibbles, previous intake shown in the left-hand photo. Young Oberon was deposited at a Wisconsin shelter. He was slated for euthanization the second week of December. Maureen got to know his docile character when he recuperated at her house post-neuter surgery. But upon return to the shelter, the staff didn't understand his frightened behavior. He was easier to euthanize. Maureen contacted us regarding a rescue spot. Oberon is our newest intake. His foster mom will understand his rabbit demeanor and let him become a lovable companion. Ober's photo will be on SRR if he isn't adopted beforehand.
Oberon had been chosen for snake food to an 11-ft. boa ... The person who deposited him at Onalaska's shelter backed down. Executive Dir. Heather realized his changeover to Rescue would benefit him the best.
Maureen and Angela are Oberon's #1 helpers.
