- Know Your Foes -
Hawks, foxes, coyotes, dogs, cats, bears, wild cats, weasels, snakes, owls, wolves, humans. Humans. Humans.
Four lb. Chico, a chihuahua dog in Illinois, is walked by his owner late at night. A stealth owl dives down and grabs the small dog with its talons. A red-tailed hawk dives down at a Boston Terrier who steps outside near nightfall (to widdle). A cage is left outside and a neighbor's dog runs over to knock over the rabbit cage. A fox creeps in after dusk to attack the outdoor unit containing a defenseless rabbit. A bear demolishes the outdoor hutch that contains a rabbit, smashing the roof. Coyotes lurk. The barn cats need to be inside or they'll be at risk. Karla's 65 lb. dog Sam (golden chow) got loose in northwoods Wisconsin. Posters were distributed. Days of searching continued by friends & helpers. Sam is finally found unharmed. Gratefully! ... A dog's collar is found, the dog is not. A bunn is kept in an outdoor hutch; door is found open later on. The body of the companion pet is several feet away, under the evergreen. I will spare you the exact details.
Outdoor Dangers
Know your Friends: Behavior awareness, training, and supervision is KEY to co-existing peacefully. Keep the breeds and temperaments of dogs and cats in mind. Various species co-exist unharmed in numerous homes.
Sue is a knowledgeable pet guardian. Caregiver to special needs', different species. Sue's elderly Dugan will rest with blind & deaf Doppler.
